Warpaint – Exquisite Corpse (EP)

A striking early release from Warpaint, blending alternative rock, dream pop and psychedelia into a hypnotic, immersive sound full of contrasts.

Atmospheric guitars, melodic bass lines and ethereal vocals shape compositions that move between delicate passages and bursts of intensity, driven by post-punk rhythms and unpredictable structures. “Stars” reveals the band’s more contemplative side, while “Elephants” combines memorable melodies with distorted guitars and shifting dynamics. “Billie Holiday” stands out for its intimate atmosphere and mesmerising vocals, while “Beetles” explores psychedelic textures and subtle harmonies. Mixed by John Frusciante, this release captures the band’s spontaneous energy and distinctive identity, offering an early glimpse of a group that would become a notable force in alternative rock.
