Bixiga 70 – III

An explosive fusion of Brazilian rhythms, Afrobeat, funk and jazz, this instrumental album showcases the creative force of São Paulo collective Bixiga 70.

Built around powerful percussion, hypnotic bass lines, rhythmic guitars, keyboards and a commanding brass section, the group brings together African, Afro-Brazilian and Caribbean influences in a vibrant and unpredictable musical journey. The infectious energy of “100% 13” and “Martelo” contrasts with the immersive atmosphere of “Ventania”, while “Niran” explores funk grooves with Afrobeat influences and “Di Dancer” combines dancefloor-ready rhythms with sharp, punchy brass arrangements. More than a straightforward blend of styles, these nine tracks reveal a distinctive musical identity shaped by improvisation, rhythmic complexity and the close interplay between the musicians. Recorded live in the studio, the album captures the intensity and spontaneity of a band that transforms diverse musical traditions into a contemporary, sophisticated and irresistibly danceable sound.
