    About

    WHO ARE WE?

Socorro is a record store, bookstore and concert hall located in downtown Porto and open to the public since 2023.

It is based in a historic building from 1954, practically unchanged and divided into 3 floors, each dedicated to a different specific activity, guaranteeing multiple journeys in a single space.

On the first floor you'll find the area for LPs, CDs and a variety of merchandise that delights music lovers. Socorro works closely with national and foreign independent labels, which means that in the same space you can find the latest reissue of Pink Floyd records, the new local band that played two weeks ago or a compilation of Singaporean music from the 60s. Diversity guaranteed for one of a music lover's greatest pleasures: a good digging. This floor also has an area for monthly art and/or photography exhibitions, always in collaboration with emerging artists from the local art scene.

The mezzanine is home to the bookshop, which offers a wide range of books in Portuguese and English, in collaboration with various national and foreign publishers, both commercial and independent, not forgetting author's editions. On this floor you can find everything from children's books to graphic novels, biographies of bands and artists to literary classics, always with the aim of offering the most original books at extremely attractive prices.

In the basement, a concert hall with a dozen events every month that can range from the most pastoral folk to the most blasphemous black metal. Its elitism lies in the fact that it accepts all musical and artistic styles. One of its unique features is the timing of the events, which take place on weekday evenings. It has a bar and an outdoor terrace.

Socorro aims to be an oasis for this complicated modern life. Here you can watch and listen to a concert, drink a beer, reencounter friends, buy that record or book you've been looking for for so long and return home with your soul at peace.

Always with a stamp of independence, it seeks to be ready to help all its visitors who are much more than that: they are the friends with whom we talk about books and records at Guedes de Azevedo.
