Zamiatin describes, more than a future world, human relations in this effectively productivist, clean, emotionless world. In the One State, in the 30th century, the Tablets of the Horary Commandments synchronize productive activities and sexual relations, in the absolute transparency of the glass houses. In a world dominated by a Benefactor, where men and women are apparently equal, starting with their functional and simple clothing (the unifs), everyone has numbers, not names.
