Ernest Hemingway - Fiesta

The plot of Fiesta – The Sun Always Rises takes place in post-World War I Europe. With the exception of the bullfighter Pedro Romero, all its heroes are expatriates from the United States or Great Britain, and all of them, whether seeking adventure or something undefined to fill the void in their lives, settle in Paris. This Lost Generation is the protagonist of this novel, published in 1926, which established Hemingway as one of the great authors of the 20th century. At the center of the story are Jake Barnes and Brett Ashley – he, an unhappy boy; she, possessing a vibrant exuberance – and their journey from bohemian Paris to the brutal bullrings of Spain, in days of moral bankruptcy and spiritual dissolution, of frustrated love and lost illusions. This is a cult novel from the interwar period and a brilliant portrait of a generation of young intellectuals who would forever mark him.
