Albert Camus - Cartas a Um Amigo Alemão

Compiled for the first time in a single volume in 1945, the four letters presented here were written by Albert Camus during the Nazi occupation of France and published clandestinely.

They express the doctrine developed in *The Plague or The Rebel*: that man is a mortal being, but that he should not die without resistance, without fighting for justice. *Letters to a German Friend* is, in the author's own words, a "document of the struggle against violence" and, bearing witness to one of the most devastating moments in recent European history, reveals itself, above all, as a text defending the European ideal, whose arguments remain as relevant today.
