The Lemonheads - Its A Shame About Ray (30th anniversary edition)
36.00€
The Lemonheads’ It’s A Shame About Ray stands as one of the defining indie records of the early ’90s, capturing Evan Dando at his most instinctive and melodic. Reissued by Fire Records, it remains a concise, 30-minute rush of jangling guitars, wry confession and perfectly formed pop songs.
Tracks like ‘My Drug Buddy’, ‘Rudderless’ and the title cut distil teenage longing and restlessness into two-minute bursts, balancing sweetness with scrappy charm. While ‘Mrs. Robinson’ became a later addition, the album’s real strength lies deeper in: the candid ‘Confetti’, written about Dando’s parents’ divorce; the brisk, bratty ‘Bit Part’; and a disarmingly direct take on ‘Frank Mills’ from Hair.
The reissue gathers extra material including B-sides, EP tracks and a 1992 KCRW session version of ‘My Drug Buddy’ featuring Juliana Hatfield. Green vinyl LP. Includes download card for demos and extra material.
