Mort Garson – Mother Earths Plantasia
28.00€
Mother Earth’s Plantasia is an electronic music album by Mort Garson, first released in 1976 and designed to be played “for plants…and the people that love them.”
arson, an early adopter of the Moog synthesizer, crafted a set of lush, melodic compositions with a warm and inviting atmosphere that stood apart from much of the electronic music of its era. At the time of its original release, the album had extremely limited distribution — it was given away with houseplant purchases at a store called Mother Earth in Los Angeles or included with the purchase of a Simmons mattress at certain Sears stores — and therefore did not achieve widespread popularity. Over the ensuing decades, Plantasia has developed a dedicated cult following among vinyl collectors and electronic music aficionados, admired for its quirky charm and its anticipation of ambient and experimental sounds that would flourish later. In 2019, the record received an official reissue on vinyl and digital formats, bringing renewed attention to Garson’s whimsical and distinctive work.
