The Knife In Collaboration With Mt. Sims And Planningtorock – Tomorrow, In A Year

Tomorrow, In A Year is an opera‑album by The Knife in collaboration with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock, released in 2010 on Rabid Records.

The work was commissioned by Danish performance group Hotel Pro Forma to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species. It spans nearly 92 minutes across two discs, recorded in 2008‑2009 in Stockholm, Berlin and Copenhagen, with live percussion (Iceland), natural field recordings, operatic vocals and experimental electronic environments. The album moves through stages ranging from dense, unsettling soundscapes and noise to more melodic passages and organic textures, reflecting evolution in a broad sense: from primordial beginnings to the complexity of life. Tomorrow, In A Year is not an easy listen, requiring letting go of conventional pop expectations and embracing its artistic, atmospheric and conceptual ambition.
