    Sousa Dias - Pre-Apocalypse Now

    11.00€

We live in an age of spurious amalgams, which confuses thought and communication, criticism and marketing, theory and the opinion of "experts," thinkers and media intellectuals or cultural journalists. An age of super-information but, paradoxically, an age of anti-thought, of widespread loss of the meaning of thought, of a reflux of thought in all its forms. And, not by chance or coincidence, an age of extreme dehumanization of the human, of the desubstantialization of human subjectivity, as Žižek says, of the most docile and cowardly social body, as Agamben says.

A catastrophe of thought, of which the "end of ideologies" is a reverberation, and with it a disaster of the human, an absolute disaster into which we may only be entering, a spiritual pre-apocalypse for which no way out is in sight. In another text, Agamben writes that while an animal can harness its power, which varies from species to species but is defined once and for all by its nature or "biological vocation," man, devoid of nature, is the being who can harness his own impotence. "The greatness of his power is measured by the abyss of his impotence." The way out of the present human situation, if it exists, will necessarily pass through thought, that is, through the unlimited, immeasurable power of this human impotence.
