Inácio Nuno Pignatelli - Era uma Vez o Abade de Priscos

The Abbot of Priscos was Father Manoel Joaquim Machado Rebelo, whom José Quitério called the "Pope of Cooks." He was born in 1834 in the parish of Santa Maria de Turiz and died in 1930 at Casa do Reguengo, in S. Paio de Vila Verde, at the age of 96. He was a great master of gastronomy and the inventor of the famous Abbot of Priscos Pudding, so appreciated and served in many fine restaurants in the country.
