Sun Araw – On Patrol

On Patrol is an album by Sun Araw, the project of Californian musician Cameron Stallones, released in 2010 and defined by a distinctive blend of psychedelic music, dub, experimental rock and electronic textures in a hypnotic and expansive sound.

Across nearly 75 minutes, the long compositions unfold through looping guitars, organs, slow grooves and heavily processed vocals, creating a sonic environment that shifts between meditative repetition and psychedelic exploration. On Patrol’s music rejects conventional song structures and invites the listener into dense, panoramic soundscapes, where languid rhythms and reverberant textures intertwine, evoking both imagined tropical landscapes and introspective trance states. The album is noted for its lo‑fi production and its ability to fuse influences from dub, desert rock, afrobeat and psych rock into a coherent, intense and immersive whole, rewarding deep and sustained listening.
