Songs:Ohia - Impala

Impala, the legendary second studio album by Songs: Ohia, originally released in 1998 and out of print ever since, will be reissued on vinyl by Secretly Canadian this August. This release includes a remastered demo of “Tess,” originally recorded during the Impala recording sessions.

Impala offers a new testament to Jason Molina’s songwriting talent. The songs it contains offer a glimpse into the soul of a man burdened by the burden of trying to exorcise the demons of life, loss, and survival. This is not something you can fake. It comes from growing up with the knowledge that the factories your parents work in are not an option, and that your only real option is to try to escape (easier to decide what to do).
