Rossana - À La Portugaise

“À La Portugaise,” released on November 8, 2024 by BAIT Records, is the second album by Rossana — the artistic name of Portuguese singer-songwriter Inês Barroso, currently based in London. On this record, Rossana performs vocals, piano, synth, and adufe, supported by Bruna de Moura on cello, Benjamin Lunn on guitar, Hector Bonte on bass, and James Doran on drums and percussion.

The album weaves together folk, jazz, psychedelia, electronics, and elements of traditional Portuguese music into a unique and contemporary language. The title track blends Portuguese folk rhythms with psychedelic and Eastern-inspired textures, inviting the listener to “let the body speak.” “Não Creio,” one of the singles, begins as an introspective ballad and grows into a personal anthem. Tracks such as “Bento Airoso,” “Guitanerías,” and “Lambo Boots” explore rural soundscapes, South American influences, Eastern tones, and even touches of circus-like experimentation.Recorded in France by Bernardo Ramos and completed in Portugal, the album firmly establishes Rossana as one of the most inventive voices in today's Portuguese music scene.
