Carla Thomas – Gee Whiz
20.00€
Released in 1961, Gee Whiz is the debut album by American singer-songwriter Carla Thomas.
At just 16 years old, Carla wrote the title track, "Gee Whiz (Look at His Eyes)," a romantic ballad that reached the Top 10 on the pop chart and the Top 5 on the R&B chart, becoming one of the young artist's biggest hits and putting Stax Records on the map of soul music. The album features a blend of soul and pop, with sophisticated arrangements and Carla's smooth, emotive voice, shining on tracks like "Dance With Me," "A Lovely Way to Spend an Evening," and "The Masquerade Is Over." Produced by Chips Moman, Gee Whiz solidified Carla Thomas as the "Queen of Memphis Soul" and one of the most influential voices in 1960s soul music.
