Sarnadas – The Humm

Released in April 2021 by Favela Discos, The Humm marks the second phase of Sarnadas’s drone‑ambient project, born from intensive composition sessions that produced hours of layered music.

Using only a homemade synthesizer, a mixer and effect pedals, the artist builds expansive and mutable soundscapes where noise and silence merge into textures evoking the urban pulse of Porto and Aveiro. The pieces shift between lucid‑dream states and moments closer to awakening, with softer layers that allow the sonic forms to unfold clearly and slowly. The Humm emerges as an exercise in suspended time and attentive listening, inviting the listener into a liminal space where the silent hum of the machine‑cities and the intersections of melody, drone and contemplation can be perceived.
