This Generation In Dub is the dub reinterpretation of Los Angeles-based The Lions’ debut album, originally released in 2012 on Stones Throw Records to widespread acclaim within and beyond reggae circles.

Raised on classic reggae and soul, The Lions developed a distinctive LA reggae style that has earned praise from enthusiasts worldwide. Tom Chasteen, the driving force behind LA’s legendary Dub Club night, applied his dubbed-out magic to this EP, keeping the essence of the original tracks while enhancing them with echo, reverb, and added percussion. According to Chasteen, the process was done live in the studio, highlighting beautiful harmonies, strong bass lines, and horn arrangements, following the classic Jamaican dub tradition rather than modern remixing. The result is a creative meeting of minds between musicians who honor the golden era of 1970s reggae while updating it for a contemporary audience, capturing the energy and vibrancy of the LA reggae scene.
