Alexandre Soares – Vooum

Vooum is the second solo album by Alexandre Soares, released in 2000, a musician widely recognised as one of the founders of GNR and Três Tristes Tigres.

Originally conceived as a musical counterpart to a creation directed and choreographed by Né Barros, associated with Balleteatro Companhia and Teatro Nacional S. João, the work was presented on the stage of Rivoli Teatro Municipal and includes, in its CD format, a video synthesis lasting over twelve minutes. The eight tracks that make up Vooum, from “O partir” to “E o fim…”, fully reveal their strength when experienced independently from the stage production, unfolding expansive sonic landscapes built from soaring electric and acoustic guitars, as if on a long continuous journey. In the year of its presentation and release in Porto, the album was ranked as the second best national album of the year in a review by Marcos Cruz published in Diário de Notícias.
