Victor Serge - O Ano I da Revolução
24.90€
For many, this is the most faithful and realistic portrait of the Soviet revolution seen from the inside.
Victor Serge is, par excellence, the writer who was closest to the revolutionary hunger of the early 20th century. In his youth, he collaborated with the anarchist movement in France, then went to Russia, his parents' homeland, where he was at the center of the action, living with the main actors of the revolution. He ended up imprisoned for disagreeing with much of what was done and wanting a deeper revolution. He fled Russia after seeing many of his works burned. He passed through Spain in time to participate in the Revolution and ended up, like his revolutionary colleague Leon Trotsky, in Mexico, where he is said to have died poisoned by Russian agents.
This great report is a diary of the first year of the revolution, recounted by someone who was literally inside the revolutionary machine and who lived through all the main events. The realism of the narration was necessary for Serge, who wanted to demonstrate to his former anarchist colleagues what the errors of Russian anarchism were and what the virtues of the revolution were. It was the obligation to share this honest and attentive perspective that led him to perceive the path the revolution was taking. This work features photographs from the period, identifying the main protagonists of each moment and several significant episodes from the early days of the Soviet regime.
