For the first time in Portugal, one of the first great dystopian novels of the 20th century that gave rise to a mythical film.
In the year 2026, the city of Metropolis is a powerhouse in the field of technology and quality of life. Its inhabitants alternate between various experiences, in a lively existence made up of light work, plenty of culture, science, and also debauchery.
But the big city lives off the workers of the underworld, the beings who generate energy and are the workforce that maintains Metropolis's immaculate appearance. Thus, these two absolutely separate social classes are heading towards a confrontation. In the middle there is a story of impossible love, robots, cloning, and many inventions that anticipate the future.
Originally published in 1925 in serial form, at the same time that its author, then Fritz Lang's wife, was writing the film's screenplay, it appeared in book format in 1926, a year before the premiere of the film that became one of the greatest classics of cinema, with an ever-increasing relevance.
