Selma Lagerlöf - O Anel dos Löwenskölds
13.90€
General Löwensköld was a tremendous war hero, but with age, his violent deeds weigh heavily on his memory, and he decides to be buried with the valuable ring the king had given him as a reward for his actions. In this way, his family would be free from the ghosts of the founder's violent past.
However, the ring is stolen and changes hands, bringing bad luck to whoever possesses it, until it finally returns to the Löwensköld family, who, however, decide not to bury it as the general had wished. The Löwensköld ring is the connecting point between several characters and, like other works by the author, constructs a portrait of failed ambitions and unattainable dreams.
It reads like a ghost story without terror, only with a tremendous and heavy premonition of misfortune. The members of the Löwensköld family see how their lives, and they themselves, are always, each in their own way, incomplete and imperfect. Considered one of Selma Lagerlöf's most emblematic novels, this short novel constructs a unique family saga and is one of the most important novels in modern Scandinavian literature.
