It was the year 2001 when Assírio & Alvim published the first edition of Manuel António Pina's Collected Poetry. Shortly afterwards, Eduardo Prado Coelho wrote in Público: "Perhaps now, at the moment when Assírio & Alvim publishes Manuel António Pina's Collected Poetry, we are in a position to affirm that we are in the presence of one of the great names in contemporary Portuguese poetry. An extreme personal delicacy, an obsessive discretion, a zigzagging and disconcerting culture, but always subtle and engaging, a profound sense of the complexity of literature, and also, above all, of the complexity of life, have perhaps prevented the full and widespread discovery of this journalist and man of letters, also inclined towards the lighter and more soothing games of children's literature. However, it becomes imperative to say it now: this deliberately minor tone sustains a major work of Portuguese literature." The edition now presented, in a beautiful hardcover and substantially expanded edition, includes all of the author's poetic work from 1974 to 2011.
