Civil Disobedience is one of the most celebrated texts in Thoreau's work and one of the most famous revolutionary speeches of all time. Martin Luther King read and reread Civil Disobedience and learned the strategy of non-violence from it; Gandhi always carried a copy with him.

Civil Disobedience is and will continue to be the guidebook for all those who, here and now, are aware of the injustices to which minorities are subjected, in a time when citizens are incited to worship money, because the State knows, as Thoreau denounces, that money silences many questions that man would otherwise be obliged to ask.
