In 1978, two students from the Escola Superior de Belas-Artes confidently interviewed Mário-Henrique Leiria, with a recorder in hand and a pen at the ready, in his "House of Usher" in Carcavelos (one of the few interviews given by the author), Henrique Risques Pereira at the Grémio Literário in Lisbon, and Cruzeiro Seixas on a park bench.
They unsuccessfully and comically searched for Fernando Alves dos Santos in the phone book and even reached Pedro Oom through mediumistic means. Mário Cesariny, the "pope of Portuguese surrealism," refused them the interview. Until now unpublished, these conversations, emerging from spontaneous discourse, are a living and unfiltered testimony, with no half-measures or sugarcoating, about the journey of several surrealists and about "the brainwashing machine" that was surrealism in Portugal
