This book is part of an editorial project on the theme of intervention in built heritage, intended to constitute a pedagogical tool for teaching and professional practice in architecture.

It proposes a renewed perspective on building rehabilitation practices through an interpretative narrative of the design and construction process (before, during, and after the intervention), going beyond the illustration of the final result, as is more common in architectural publications. Twenty-two works are presented by architects trained at the Porto School of Fine Arts (ESBAP), framed by critical texts by national and international authors. Thus, reflections are presented on the legacy of the Porto School as a contemporary approach to intervention in preexisting structures, open to new syntheses and resignifications, in continuity with tradition.
